Now open on Rockaway Beach!

May 29th, 2011

This Memorial Day weekend, we opened our little shed on Rockaway Beach! We are sharing it with Brooklyn’s delicious Caracas Arepa Bar. Find us at 106-01 Shore Front Parkway, Queens, or, in other words, right on the boardwalk at 106th Street – a beer-can’s throw from the Atlantic ocean. We’ll be open until Labor Day from 8-4 during the week, and 8-6 on weekends. We have a full espresso bar, individually prepared drip coffee, and lots of iced coffee. Possibly enough iced coffee.

Read this post from the New York Times to learn more about our distinguished neighbors – Rockaway Tacos, Robertas, The Meat Hook, Babycakes, and many more – serving up and down the boardwalk.

New compostable cups and lids at all locations

March 21st, 2011

Our new cups are super adorable, and lined with corn-starch derived film. They are compostable in all jurisdictions where we operate – SF, Oakland, and Brooklyn. More importantly, we’ve found compostable lids that don’t leak. Our previous lids were a significant part of our plastic landfill waste. So make sure you look for a green bin to toss your cups and lids. Or stick around! We love it when you order for here.

New espresso machine comes to the Webster coffee bar

January 3rd, 2011

We are very excited to be one of the first espresso bars in California to feature the beautiful La Marzocco Strada MP. This is La Marzocco’s first pressure profiling espresso machine and we love what it is letting us do to the coffee so far. Since we only pull single origin espresso at the Webster coffee bar, we thought that would be the perfect place to feature a Strada. There are so many possibilities with pressure profiling on the Strada we are really looking forward to delving deeply into our profiles. Apart from the pressure profiling, it’s a wonderful machine in a lot of other ways – shot timer, nice wide drip tray, ergonomic steam valve, etc etc. Please stop by and let us know what you think! Oh, and it looks super slick, also.

Certifiable!

December 8th, 2010

We’ve been roasting organic coffee all this time, but we got our Webster Street roastery certified by the CCOF. So now there is third-party certification behind every bag of organic coffee we sell!
